There are various levels of washability on all wallpapers. Spongeable wallpaper must not be cleaned with chemicals or detergents – but rather a damp (not wet) soft cloth or sponge, used to gently wash the surface without rubbing or scrubbing. This type of wallpaper is well suited to less-used areas that do not require heavy or regular cleaning. Often, intricate patterns and designs will be spongeable, which helps extend the lifespan of the paper. Spongeable wallpaper is denoted by a single line symbol on the label.
